Hubby and I are still trying to throw ideas around on what we want to do with the outside… He is suggesting now that we paint the house ourselves… which sounds like a feasible plan. We just need to take our time, and hubby needs to borrow the sprayer from church… We are also looking to move our fence up on the side of the house to the front of the house. And we want to do some serious beautifying of the landscape… it’s not a pretty picture right now… and I’m really sick of seeing it if you ask me… but right now, we’re low on funds, so there’s nothing we can do at the moment… We are waiting until the market goes up higher before we refi so we’re going to just do everything ourselves, little by little.

My mom is pressuring us to redo our master bathroom… I mean right now it’s ok. It fits what we need it for. It’s just not really pretty to look at. The bathroom was remodeled sometime in the 80s. With all white tile EVERYWHERE. The gray grout lines are gross and needs a good scrubbing… but since we’re just going to rip everything out. We haven’t bothered… *shrug…

This weekend we’ll be dealing with the little things that is left over to do around the house. The list seems to be long… but it should be do-able!

o        Fill all holes in baseboard and door trim

o        Touch up paint on baseboards, door trim and crown molding

o        Put in floor transition pieces in all doors and in kitchen

o        Finish the closet trim in office, build shelves?

o        Deal with nail in wall of office above desk

o        Touch up paint in guest room for HVAC panel

o        Paint closet in guest room

o        Put closet doors back on in guest room

o        Pain sliding glass door trim

o        Seal slate tiles in kitchen

o        Hang master bedroom closet rod drapes

o        Hang roomie’s bedroom closet drapes

o        Paint hall bathroom cabinet

o        Put covers on all outlets, replace outlets as needed

o        Paint doors

The "L" we got for Christmas from our Besties :)

First I found a console table for our entry way. I’m not sure about the color, but the size looks pretty good. I plan on putting it where the mirror and the vase is and putting those two items on top. The table costs $100, I’m sure we can find one cheaper…. The hunt is on!

The next item I found was a rug for the guest bedroom. My mom gave us a comfortor set when we moved in that she never used. It is green, white and hints if brown and orange. I found a rug with similar colors at Pier 1 for $300! This one at target was only $129. Deal! I really like how the Pier 1 rug looks but I’m nit sure if I want to pay that kind of price… It goes so well with the Pier 1 curtains that I LOVE! But they are $35 for ONE panel :( boo! and I’ll need FOUR panels for my TWO windows! Double BOO! ;(

Now to convince hubby… Hehe :)

So we were finally able to get our rec room’s walls refaced and textured! Now the only thing that needs to be done is paint, flooring and baseboards!!! whoo hoo! :)

My dad gave us a pool table light to put in there and our roomie will be putting his pool table together as soon as everything is done! We should have it done and ready by Christmas!!! I’m so excited!!! :)

The fireplace surround is also finished! :) We ended up using the leftover marble tiles we had from our kitchen floors. Now we just need to add the trim and install a mantel and we’re done! yay! :)

Hubby and I went to Sears today and got it :) It’s a Kenmore Ultra Wash HE Dishwasher with SmartWash HE Technology.

It was originally $850 but we got it as a closeout floor model for $500! :) What a deal!!!

Also on top of that, we’re getting a $50 rebate from PG&E for being High Efficiency! :) So we really only end up paying $450. Super DEAL!

Hubby installed it right away after we got it…. just in time for Thanksgiving! :) hahah!

Well at least my side… hehe

Hubby and I went to Ikea today since I had the day off for Veteran’s Day. We spent about double of what I wanted to, but we were able to get some stuff that we wanted.

I was able to get all the organizational stuff that I wanted and they all fit perfectly :) I’m really happy with the outcome :) I just hope that I can keep it looking this way! haha!

I still need to add some finishing touches, like some picture frames and some decorative items… but this is a start! :)

Now, hubby’s side of the office is a different story…

He said that he will deal with it when the rest of the house is finished… but for now, I’ll just put all the mess on his side of his office :) heeheh :)

They took down all the wood paneling above the fireplace, the “wainscoting,” and the ugly floral wallpaper.

Hubby discovered that behind the “wainscoting” was some termite issues. He said that it doesn’t look like an issue anymore. Since the rec room used to be the garage (the wall to the right of the fireplace was were the garage used to be), the previous owners didn’t use redwood to frame out the walls. I’m hoping there isn’t a termite issue!

Next week, my uncle will be stopping by and letting us know if the water stains by the bottom left side of the side door that leads to the side of the house is something we need to worry about, and also the water stains on the wall above the fireplace.

He will be texturing the walls, and if the side door is an issue, then he will be moving the door up a couple of inches or so.

Hubby and I have decided that we will be using the left over pieces of slate and marble to build the surround for the fireplace. Hubby wants a really “distinguished” mantel. I want a clean and modern mantel….

Our fireplace opening is really tiny- it’s only 29.5″ tall and 26.5″ wide.
